It’s now the end of December, and the weather in Antalya has been rainy the last few days, but right now it’s +20°C, and today’s scooter ride was really nice. During the season, I think I covered around 1,500 km.
What’s the appeal of Antalya compared to somewhere like Thailand? Freedom of movement and walking anywhere, because there are paths everywhere plus dedicated scooter lanes throughout the city. Plus, a moderate Mediterranean climate, as I don’t care for the sauna-like feel typical of the Asian region. Yes, it gets sticky and humid here for about two months a year starting in mid-July, but compared to Thailand and especially Dubai—where in May it feels like you’ve been stuffed into an oven—it’s a minor detail.
In terms of value for money, it’s probably the optimal choice, though to be completely honest, my heart lies closer to the Côte d’Azur. But for now it’s like this, and we’ll see later. Over the past 3 years, I’ve realized that the Mediterranean climate suits me best—and if you take Nice, for example, it’s noticeably colder there in November and December, but the change of seasons is more pronounced.
It’s been a while since I wrote about anything here besides SEO, but I thought my experience might be useful, especially considering relocation.

Looked at real estate prices
I talked about how great it is for a webmaster to live in a warm climate, but I overlooked one thing: real estate. Yesterday evening I checked rental prices specifically in Lara, and I can say one thing: there’s been a steep increase compared to February–March. The year hasn’t even ended yet.
«As of the end of August 2022, residential property listing prices in Turkey increased by an average of 203.15% nationwide,» reports Endeksa, a specialized portal for real estate valuation.
At the same time, average apartment interiors aren’t exactly mind-blowing or making you want to move in immediately. Food, cafes, and other expenses remain as before—everything is good.
Update: Prices in the city center aren’t as high and haven’t skyrocketed as much—that’s a fact—but Lara and Konyaaltı offer a higher quality of life, effectively making them the top two districts in the city.
