Many of you probably don’t use rank tracking tools, but out of curiosity I sometimes bought them on appsumo.com. What’s the catch? I make a one-time payment of, say, $200, but get lifetime access to the service and can track 1k keywords daily.
I don’t need it that often—I add 1 main keyword per page once a week. This uses up even fewer limits, plus there’s simply no point in checking every day.
Looking back at the project history over the past 2 years, I was surprised to see that overall the site consistently brought in money the whole time, even though I did nothing with it. Then in August there was a filter that cut traffic heavily, but now it’s gradually recovering thanks to my efforts.
Some low-frequency keywords weren’t affected at all, meaning they brought me traffic for 2 full years. So taking a high-level view of a project rather than focusing on a single moment can be very useful to avoid feeling like all is lost.
The screenshot shows the service serpwatch.io — over 2 years, they improved it quite a bit, making it much nicer to use. Plus, it effectively costs nothing extra) that’s the advantage of buying unpolished tools on AppSumo.
Since I started talking about AppSumo, there’s an active offer right now—an alternative to surferseo.com though less feature-rich and frankly a bit raw: https://appsumo.com/products/neuronwriter — it also parses Google NLP entities and gives an optimization score. If you like tweaking text optimization, it’s a pretty good deal, especially considering free ongoing use if they keep improving it.
AppSumo is like an IPO for new SaaS products to raise initial funds and attract early customers)
P.S. If I had 10 sites like this, life would be absolutely fantastic😆, plenty of room to grow.
Now I always try to pick 1 main keyword per page and track it, regardless of Google Search Console and Ahrefs.
