The site recovered all of its traffic and continues to grow.
Here is what we did:
- We identified and updated all thin content on the site. (We considered any article under 400 words to be poor quality). We deleted those posts and improved the decent posts on the site.
- We created 30 new topical articles to support the «money pages.» These new articles contain no affiliate links; they are informational and aimed solely at helping the user (as well as keeping users on the site longer).
- From the 30 new articles, we added relevant links to old articles based on topical relevance. A total of 128 links.
- We removed all stock images from our content and replaced them with new original images. It took time, but it helped improve user retention since all images are now unique.
- We checked Search Console, identified pages marked as «found but not indexed» (status: found but not indexed), and improved them. We fixed all the issues we could find in Search Console.
- We built 10 links to the 30 new informational articles.
- After 2 weeks, the site revived, regaining all its positions, traffic, and profitability. I understand that Google is still rolling out updates, so the recent post-May Core update might have also had a positive impact on the situation…
