What Analyzing Competitors Gives Me

— Which products they put in first place, meaning they sell best and generate the most money. I don’t always need to test the best product, which saves time

— Which affiliate networks competitors use, since Amazon isn’t always the most profitable

— Through competitor analysis, I found non-Amazon affiliate programs for myself that I now monetize with, making more from the same traffic.

— Which links new sites use to rank in the top so quickly. After all, I have a new site, meaning they are my actual competitors—not authoritative sites that can get away with anything, where taking a breath puts a page in the top.

Perhaps they use PBNs, and then I examine those PBNs and how they are built

— Which conversion optimization techniques they use

— Non-standard tricks I can apply on my end: custom buttons, tables, custom product blocks, numbering, highlighting products, and so on. I implement all of this via a designer and developer.

The most important thing regarding links – when you look at it and realize it’s actually simple. You just need to build these PBNs with specific parameters like the competitor’s. Yes, you’ll have to search and select carefully, but sometimes a few powerful links are enough to hit the top. Not dozens or hundreds. A few. That’s exactly what I see in the top rankings.

After analyzing hundreds of sites, I now understand the strengths and weaknesses of each site and see growth opportunities for them—or growth opportunities for myself and features to implement.

Why is analysis important?

Competitor analysis (meaning the top rankers) is a crucial thing for me. I don’t listen to what other SEOs say in their posts, blogs, or videos; instead, I try to understand and make sense of the real picture in my niche as far as my analysis allows.

Sometimes I’m wrong, but when I reach the top, I realize I was heading in the right direction.

Sometimes everything is much simpler.

I rearranged the products just like the competitors had them, and literally a few days later, a $142 lead came through. That is a 50% commission on a product sale.
