I think we need to step back from trying to figure out if AI is bad or if AI articles rank worse, and look at something else:
- Are you writing short sentences or unreadable walls of text? I can easily spot a meaningless AI wall of text now.
- Is the text engaging or overly formal?
- Keyword stuffing.
- Personal experience.
- Using a large number of LSI terms and vocabulary.
- Optimizing for top ranks using Surfer SEO or NeuronWriter.
- Building the same content blocks as competitors: tables, lists.
If you do all of this and ensure that the final piece doesn’t differ significantly, you’ll find that AI won’t lag that far behind text written by a human copywriter.
These are my current thoughts after a year of working with AI.

In the screenshot, all pages were written by AI using the Frase service.
I’ll review the best AI editor again a bit later. There was a time when I fell out of love with Frase.
